The South Shore Unit of Choke Canyon State Park has a range of activities for its visitors, like camping, boating, hiking, fishing and swimming. The area is abundant with wildlife, making it easy for birdwatchers or animal viewers to catch a glimpse. There are softball, volleyball and equestrian areas as well. The South Shore Unit is only open from June through August, while the Calliham Unit is open all year round.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park Laredo
This 371-acre park offers picnic facilities, RV facilities, camping and a boat ramp and fishing pier. The lake is 1,656 acres and is popular for largemouth bass fishing and bird and wildlife watching.
